What they claim  & the Reality

 Imagine This
 

 You learn about challenging positions in an exciting new location and with an extremely attractive salary and benefits package.

And the trap is set !
 
 

 All travel arrangements are made for you, including your visa, work papers, and any other necessary documents as needed.

It took them 5 months to obtain my visa, which they told me would only take 4 weeks.  When I arrived at Heathrow airport, only a reservation had been made and no ticket was there. I called GTR representative who told me I had to use my credit card to pay for my own ticket to LA.
  

 You are met at the airport and driven to an apartment that has been rented just for you and is free of charge. It is stocked with food and drink--all the amenities to make your move as comfortable and easy as possible.

When I arrived at the airport, there was no driver to meet me, I had to call GTR to send somebody, after 1hr somebody eventualy arrived.  The accomodation is not free.  GTR make hourly deductions from your salary to cover the accomodation.  You have to pay all your own utility bills.  They provided a pack of hotdogs and a bottle of 7UP - hardly  fully stocked food and Drink.

 A bank account has been opened in your name.

GTR did not open a Bank account for me, I had to first obtain a Social Security Number.  Which meant driving to the nearest SS office in LA. GTR made no attempt to assist me in this task.  So for 3 weeks I had no bank account and was relying on my UK credit cards to survive.

 Every few weeks, a surprise arrives, something fun to help you enjoy your new home -- tickets to a concert, a sporting event, or a social gathering.

In the 6 months I have been in the employ of GTR we have had a $16 ticket to watch basket ball.  No drinks or food, just the ticket.
 

 A 24 hour support structure is in place to help with any problems.

If your lucky you get to speak to them only during office hours, and then they dont always return your calls

 In six months, you're entitled to a round-trip ticket for a short visit home.

Another scam,  GTR deducts a hourly rate from your salary to cover the airline tickets, it equates to $2000 per 12 months.  But if you fail to use the ticket they will not reimburse the money they deducted. Or as in my case I asked to take a flight home 1 month earlier than the 6  months as this was the only time I could get time from the client and was refused the airline ticket. They also will purchase the cheapest ticket and pocket the rest of the money they have deducted.
 

 When you complete your assignment, you receive a substantial Completion Bonus as our way of saying "thanks" for a job well done.

Another even bigger scam,  as with everything GTR claim to provide free, in fact all of it is being deducted from your salary at a premium.  The bonus is deduct at a rate of $2.50 from your salary.    The amount GTR leaves you at the end of the month is barely enough to live on.

Other things which have happened, are peoples pay checks have bounced.  and unlike a normal company paying your salary direct into you bank account, he delivers checks a week late.
 

They also claim to have offices in 13 cities, this is another lie they are a small 4 -5 employee outfit with only 1 client.  So if the job you are placed into is not for you the it is almost impossible for GTR to relocate you

This maybe one account, but many others are in the same position.  So check your contract and think if you really want to become trapped by this type of unscrupulous employer
